FROM 4-LEAF CLOVER TO SUSTAINABLE NEIGHBORHOOD
People need time to change. We looked for a sustainable and feasible step in the residential landscape. A design as an alternative to the Flemish subdivision.
Where would you most like to live?
We often choose something we are used to but that is therefore not the best choice. Hopefully the above image can convince you.
A home that can grow and shrink to fit your family’s needs allows for optimal use of space (limiting stray spaces), less maintenance and better affordability.
IN SEARCH OF COLLECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL LIVING
A quality and pleasant environment where one can live individually and enjoy together.
- Games and water
- Dog walking
- Grouped vegetable gardens
- Private tucked away behind greenery
- Limited fencing (small children | pets)
- Orientation (most north facing houses get enough light and doorzoning possibility)
- Parking: car-free – garage conversion possibilities
- Quiet space (study, home work, ….)
- Harmony and pleasant living
- Meeting (social contact)
- Multifunctional community space
- (Communal) sustainable energy facilities
NEW HOUSING FORMS AND PROPERTY RIGHTS
We are evolving more and more towards partial communal facilities and are looking for affordable housing. Here we can ask ourselves whether our existing and most commonly used housing formulas such as buying and renting are the best and only solutions. Co-living, Co-housing, hamster rents, ground leases, leasing and housing cooperatives are gradually making their appearance.
FLEXIBLE LIVING & BUILDING
CALLS FOR FLEXIBLE REGULATION
Is buying property the best option for the future and sustainable living? (renting, hamster leases, cooperatives, ground leases)
Flexible permits that allow for phased construction.
Credit forms that can grow and shrink. Maybe in the future we will lease our home like a car
NEW FORMS OF HOUSING
Are we ready for it or is it a necessity? (Co-housing, co-living, housing cooperatives et al.)
THE 4-LEAF CLOVER – THE FUTURE
MINDSHIFT LIVING & BUILDING
CLOVER 4 – THE INSPIRATION TOOL
We don’t make a mind shift alone, we do it together.
Through this inspiration tool, we have made all of our information available. We hope that citizens, construction, finance, policy and many others will start working with these results. It is the ideal practice material to synchronize all domains and make them ready for living in 2050.
Within PXL research, we continue to focus on circular design. The future for a sustainable building chain.
With the support of the Province of Limburg (housing subsidy for innovative projects) we will further investigate how the 4-LEAF CLOVER can contribute to new forms of living, new business models, sustainable energy facilities, co-habitation and more.
Our dream: to realize the 4-LEAF CLOVER in the Flemish | Limburg Residential Landscape.
The technical cell will already be built in early 2022.
